Summer City, Kalmar Castle, and Kalmar City Festival
Kalmar is located in southeast Sweden, on the coast of Baltic Sea. This lesser known city is known as the summer city of Sweden because of the lively yet relaxed environment. Kalmar’s history dates back to as early as the 11th century and holds many memories that has helped shape Sweden to be the country it is today. The old town, or what the locals call Gamla Stan, has a Swedish charm with its cobbled streets and well-preserved 17th- and 18th-century buildings.
